KU Osher Lifelong Learning Institute Is Five Years Old!

The Osher Institute began its first formal semester in September 2004. This fall we will celebrate our fifth anniversary. In 2004, we offered eight courses. This fall we are offering 37 courses, including 28 in northeast Kansas, four in Hutchinson, three in Parsons and two in Liberal. In addition, we are offering three special events in northeast Kansas. With your help, we’ve grown almost five-fold in the past five years!

The Osher Institute at the University of Kansas offers a unique learning opportunity for folks 50+. You can enjoy learning without worrying about homework, ask lots of questions and enjoy minimal fees. Our noncredit, short three 2-hour classes offer a wide range of topics, from the history of spaceflight to bird watching. We offer courses all over northeast Kansas, including the greater Kansas City area, Hutchinson and Parsons. To find out where you can take an Osher class, visit us online at www.Osher.KU.edu, and click on "Locations."

A Visit to the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art and Lunch at the Tempo Café – Special Event Summer 2009
Visit to the Nerman MuseumOn July 24, Osher members enjoyed a visit to the Nerman Art Museum, which opened in 2007 and is located on the campus of Johnson County Community College. The elegant minimalist building, designed by architect Kyu Sung Woo from Kansas limestone, is itself a work of art. We enjoyed both the excellent tour and the gourmet lunch at the museum’s Café Tempo. We then had free time to further explore the museum and the museum gift shop. How can you participate in tours like this? Visit us online at www.Osher.KU.edu or look at our Special Events on page 16 of the fall catalog.
