I've been working at the University Honors Program for just over 10 years. As Associate Director I work closely with curriculum development and undergraduate research and I advise and teach medieval literature and German language courses. I have a PhD in Germanic Languages and Literatures with a specialty in medieval literature and philology. My favorite research topics include 12th and 13th century German literature and the literature of King Arthur.
Originally from upstate NY near Syracuse, I have gradually made my way to the Midwest. After graduating from college in Oswego, NY, I went to Indiana University to get an MA in German Studies. After Indiana, I ventured to Lawrence, Kansas where I have lived since 1994. During my education, I had the opportunity to travel extensively throughout Europe and live and study in Germany for two years.
When not on campus, I enjoy being with my three children and staying involved in their activities ranging from soccer to scouting. I have always instilled in my children an appreciation for nature, and we regularly take hikes in the woods around northeast Kansas.
