This course will look at major Broadway shows that appeared in 1949, 1959 and 1969. Each of the three classes will start with a brief survey of that year on the Great White Way, and then we will look at one show in detail for each year: South Pacific (1949), Gypsy (1959) and 1776 (1969). Join us as we look at these surprising and memorable shows, each telling us much about ourselves as Americans in the 20th century along with offering great songs.
