This class combines background lectures, book excerpts, videos and photographs to explore the autobiographies of Shirin Ebadi ( Iran Awakening ), lawyer and winner of the 2003 Nobel Peace Prize; Zainab Salbi ( Between Two Worlds ), daughter of Saddam Hussein’s pilot and founder of Woman for Woman International; and Saira Shah ( Storyteller’s Daughter ), Afghani/English journalist who produced Beneath the Veil, a documentary film on the Taliban. Prior text reading is optional.

Date: Wednesdays, Nov. 4, 11 & 18
Times: 7–9 p.m.
